Am presently making preparations for my trip to Russia this December.

December, eh? Damn, that sounds cold.

Naturally, I'm looking forward to this immensely. St. Petersburg is having their 300th anniversary this year, so all the historical buildings have been repainted and re-guilded. I'm sure the photos will be spectacular.

I downloaded the visa-application forms, and I noticed that American males between the ages of 16-45 must fill-out a supplimentary form. The questions on it are a little interesting:

"Have you received any military training? If so, explain."

"Have you participated in or been a victim of any military conflicts? If so, explain."

"Have you received any training for the following: firearms, explosives, chemical weapons, biological weapons or nuclear weapons?"

I assume they don't want foreigners to join the jihad in Chechnya. Lord knows I want join the jihad, but I'd look awful in a beard. And I'd have to give-up pork sandwiches.

Unfortunately, Haruna can't get time-off, so she won't be going with me. I do have a Japanese male friend who is very keen on accompanying me, so it's very possible I might have a companion. More details as this develops.
