UPDATE: Well, Gadzooks seems to have revamped their site in the past week. Furthermore, there is no sign of the t-shirt in question. (The links down below will not work, but I've put-in their new mailing address.)
There is reason to believe that they might remove said tasteless piece of merchandise. Here, it says: "...soon we will be moving in the sweetest-looking clothes, shoes and accessories just for you." Well, hopefully that involves moving-out the God-awful shit.
Sometime in the next few months, their site will have their new catalog in place and we will see if they've actually removed said t-shirt. Wait and see. Special thanks to everyone who has written to them, I hope that your flak eventually reached a few their decision-makers.
The whole "Proud to be Sexist" sentiment on their site is quite irritating. But I'm happy that some women have at least stopped pretending to want equality. Stopped paying lip-service to something they were never serious about in the first place. A bit more frank, is it not?
To capture the overall mentality, here is a quote from their promotional video. (Only watch it if you are incredibly masochistic): "You let boys spoil you rotten-- but you never let them tell you what to do..."
Yes, that would sure describe a leech who has an inflated sense of self-worth. The passive attitude of a taker, melded with a rather corybantic variant of hauteur.
Folks, this is the specter of modern American girlhood in all of her painfully-cringing glory. Fakeness! Phoniness! Snake-oil! Slathered-on cosmetics with empty, pallid-assed, eviscerated nothings beneath it all! There is simply nothing there but a glob of road-tar for a soul! They studiously, obstinately, adamantly refuse to be anything more than walking consumer-turds stuffed into dresses, offering zilch to humanity apart from menstrual slime and wretchedness.
