One Reader's Frustrating Story

Got this message from a reader named El-Cid...

He writes:

I was talking to my girlfriend... *AHEM* my ex girlfriend... I'm a nice guy too... and yet she dumped me... For who? A jock... (Nooooooooo!! -- NG) Now I was always nice to her… I cared for her, I was there to talk to her, I never lied to her, or cheated on her. I tried to be the perfect boyfriend! She was a sweet girl too… But as people started to notice her, she turned out to be very rude to me, and I just dealt with it. I never even called her a bitch when everyone else did. (That in itself means something. -- NG) I just didn’t agree with them. Anyway, she dumped me… Why? Hell if I know… She said some crap about me being more of a "brother." That’s right, a brother… We never saw each other before our little love at first site experience, but I was still her brother… Well, after about a few weeks, she was so sorry to dump me, and she wanted me back too. Maybe this meant I had another chance. HAHA! NOPE! She was even ruder to me. She basically tried to get me to dump her… But I dealt with it… Because I’m a NiceGuy… And now she will tell me things like "burn in hell" "your so immature" and she will shove her dating experience in my face... and yet I cant say anything bad to her... she will keep going on how much of a jerk I am. I never lied to her, I never cheated on her, I was a nice guy. And she went for a not so nice guy... anyway man... I know how you feel. Woman tell me the same thing to, they have these crappy Boyfriends and tell me (a nice guy) that they want a nice guy... maybe I should tell you a story.

There are two people- a jock and the girl who is being treated like crap by her boyfriend. She caught me by myself crying (I was about to flunk and not get my high school diploma) and she came to comfort me… She was a sweet girl. This jock, is my sworn enemy… (Ahh, the Sinestro to your Green Lantern, as it were. -- NG) I hate the guy more then anything… Anyway, this girl was hurt because her boyfriend wouldn’t let her date this one guy. Er… ex boyfriend. (And this girl is somehow desirable in what way, exactly? -- NG) He’s one of those jealous types… You know… I thought maybe I could try and comfort her… But noooooo, one of her bitchy little girlfriends came to her telling me to go away (guess what! It’s cause I’m not popular! Actually I’m the lowest rank in my school! And yet I’m STILL a nice guy!). She took the crying girl who I wanted to make her feel better… Anyway, someone told her I liked her… and then I spoke to her about it… She seemed a little flattered, and I figured being Mr. NiceGuy actually paid off. I’m in summer school, and I’m talking to this girl… Asking if she wanted to go out. "No, I’m sorry <insert name here>, after what happened with my last boyfriend, I don’t wanna go out for awhile, I don’t even know if I’ll get a boyfriend in awhile." I even understood where she was going with this. But I still figured that maybe being Mr. Nice Guy would pay off…. HAHA! WRONG! A week later, she was dating that jock I mentioned earlier. I was talking to my friend about it when school started, and people told me, "Heh, she doesn’t deserve you, she’s too good for you." And "<Insert name here> is a much better person then you!" YEAH! He’s a much better person then me. If she where’s a certain type of clothing, her new boyfriend calls her a slut. (Really? Got any pictures of her in said clothing? -- NG) OH YEAH! He’s a much better person. Maybe next time I go out with someone, I’ll call her a slut because I want to. HELL NO! This guy is a fucking asshole! He thinks he is better then everyone else! And he is a much better person cause he’s fucking popular! AND THAT’S BULL SHIT! I would never treat her like that! SHIT! I’d worship the dirt she walked on! But no! SHE NEVER GAVE ME A CHANCE! And she went for the most self-righteous, womanizing, shit headed jock in the school. (One word: YUP! -- NG)

You were right… "The Nice Guy can never get the girl." (Sadly, that is so. -- NG)
